It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Maria Josephine Hammond, who died on the 28th of April 2026 at Wairarapa Hospital peacefully.
Beloved Wife of the late Kevin Hammond.
Much loved Mother of Bridget, Dominic, Peter, and Amanda.
Cherished Grandma of Christopher, Nicholas, Ashleigh, Sarah, Michael, Laura, Joshua, Poppy, Isaac, Isabella, Isla, Emma and Noah. And Great Grandmother to Heidi, Brodie and Pippa.
A service to celebrate her life will be held in Holy Family Church 169 Mungavin Avenue, Porirua East on 1st May 2026 at 11.00am.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Wellington Free Ambulance Wairarapa would be appreciated.
Dear Bridget, Dominic, Peter and Amanda- I was shocked and so sorry to read just now of Maria’s passing. We were talking only a few weeks ago when we were both in the Wtn court supporting someone.
Your mother and father were strong supporters of the right to life and I admired them both for being so steadfast. They were good together and I’m happy that they are together again.
Nevertheless it is a huge shock and I’m sorry I won’t see her again. I know she was happy moving to be closer to family so good that she did that before it was too late.
